Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS) in conjunction with Dubai Airports (DA) has selected DANS provide Air Traffic Services (ATS), including Air Traffic Control, Meteorology, Aeronautical Information and Air Traffic Engineering Services to Dubai Airports, which operates both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport. The rapid expansion of Dubai’s aviation industry has led to more complex procedures being introduced that increase the risk of ATS occurrences. In response to this increase, both DANS and DA needed to increase their efficiency in processing and retaining safety- and quality-related data. To increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their safety and quality system, DANS selected ‘Q-Pulse will enable us to process almost every output from our Safety and Quality activities in a fraction of the time it takes to process this information manually,’ says Sinéad McCloskey, Manager of Safety and Standards at DANS. ‘By streamlining how we manage audit and occurrence reports, Q-Pulse will enable us to improve our overall efficiency. Q-Pulse makes the open sharing of safety data much easier, which reduces the time spent on actual incident investigations and enhances overall safety performance. ‘In addition, we should be able to reduce associated paperwork by more than 90%, which will result in savings in the time, effort and cost of managing our documentation, not to mention the reduction in storage space that we’ll achieve in putting an electronic document management system into place.’ In 2009 DANS secured a ten-year contract with Dubai Airports, which recognised that Q-Pulse could enable DANS to establish a robust platform for safety and quality management that could subsequently be rolled out across its network. Sinéad concludes: ‘Q-Pulse will refine how we operate, and especially how we manage safety.
